Amity Blue - The Next Chapter

Amity Blue - The Next Chapter

After six and a half incredible years, the time has come for us to hand Amity Blue over and say goodbye as its founders.

Even writing those words feels a little surreal.

What started as an idea to create beautiful, practical beach products from recycled plastic bottles became so much more than we ever imagined. Amity Blue became a huge part of our lives and something we are incredibly proud of.

From the very beginning, our dream was simple: create great products, look after our oceans, reduce waste and prove that sustainability and beautiful design could go hand in hand.

Over the years, Amity Blue products have helped divert more than 500,000 plastic bottles from waste, while our partnership with Tangaroa Blue allowed us to give back directly to an organisation doing incredible work protecting Australia's coastline and marine environment.

We are also incredibly proud to have donated more than $10,000 in cash and more than $10,000 worth of products to organisations, communities and causes close to our hearts.

But the numbers are only one small part of the story.

The best part has always been the people.

To every person who bought an Amity Blue towel, blanket, hat or hoodie, stopped for a chat at a market, recommended us to a friend, left us a lovely review, stocked our products, shared one of our posts or simply believed in what we were trying to create — thank you.

You allowed a small Australian business to grow.

You allowed us to keep creating.

And you helped us make a difference.

Now Amity Blue begins a very exciting new chapter, and we are so happy to introduce Elly Sutherland as the new owner of Amity Blue.

When we made the decision to sell, finding the right person mattered enormously to us.

Amity Blue was never just a business we wanted to hand over to the highest bidder. We wanted someone who understood what it stood for.

Someone who shared the same values.

Someone who cared about sustainability, people and the ocean.

Someone kind, motivated and genuinely excited about what Amity Blue could become.

We found that person in Elly.

From the beginning, it was obvious that she understood the heart of the brand. She believes in the same ethos we do and is committed to continuing Amity Blue’s sustainability focus, its relationship with Tangaroa Blue and the values that have always sat behind everything we created.

And that means more to us than we can really put into words.

There is something very special about being able to hand over something you have spent years building and know it is going to someone who genuinely cares.

We are incredibly proud of everything Amity Blue has become, but we are equally excited to see where Elly takes it next.

She will bring her own ideas, her own energy and her own personality to the business — exactly as she should — while continuing the values that have always made Amity Blue what it is.

So while this is the end of our chapter as the owners of Amity Blue, it is absolutely not the end of the story.

It is simply a handover.

From us to Elly.

From one chapter to the next.

And we could not be happier about who is taking the reins.

To everyone who has been part of the Amity Blue journey over the past six and a half years — thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

And to Elly…

We know Amity Blue is in wonderful hands, and we can’t wait to see where you take it.

Be the Change.

With love and enormous gratitude,

Katie & Chappy
Founders, Amity Blue
