The name Amity Blue means Friends of The Ocean.
It’s a name that encompasses who we are and why we get out of bed every morning. After spending a life by the beach, myself and my husband have seen a frightening amount of plastic rubbish accumulate in our oceans and we wanted to do something about it.
Each year more than 8 million tonnes of plastics are dumped into the sea. To put that into perspective, it’s like dumping a garbage truck full of plastic into the ocean every minute for every day of every year.
We have the ability to change the way we dispose of our rubbish right now.
Dumping is a thing of the past - recycle and re-use is our future and Amity Blue is proud to be part of this exciting movement.
After many months of research, we found an amazing product - sand-resistant beach towels made from a fabric that is 80% recycled plastic bottles. It just made sense. The towels offer so many benefits. They are antimicrobial, odour free, ultra-absorbent, quick-drying, and super compact. It is a fantastic opportunity to create a beautiful, quality product that is also environmentally friendly.
We are passionate about delivering a luxurious high-end product that uses waste plastics. Recycling and reusing are our future and Amity Blue is now proud to offer a selection of beautiful towels in varied sizes, patterns, and indigenous designs.
Over the past year or so more than 140,000 water bottles were intercepted and recycled to create our range of quality towels.We want to double that figure in 2022 and then double it again until plastic water bottles become their own threatened species.
We are in the process of expanding our range and new ideas are always presenting themselves.

Never in our lives has technology and information been so readily available. We have the ability to change the way we dispose of our rubbish right now! In fact, disposing is a thing of the past. Recycling and reusing are our future and Amity Blue wants to be a part of this exciting movement.
Our Towels are made from recycled plastic bottles. It takes just over 20 plastic bottles make up one Large 160cm x 80cm towel.
A CLEANER/GREENER ENVIRONMENT
Our products are made from a yarn called Repreve.
Put simply, Repreve is made by breaking down recycled plastic bottles and turning them into thread. This thread is then made into the fabric used to make our products. Although an involved process, it is far cleaner than using natural resources, and to date, over 23 Billion plastic bottles have been turned into materials. In fact, Repreve is now manufactured in several major textile-producing locations around the world. Using this cutting-edge technology means we reduce waste with every product we make.

Yes! Our towels are antimicrobial which means they kill or slow the spread of bacteria, odours, viruses, and germs. This makes them ideal for using in your home, at the gym, yoga studio, the pool, boat, absolutely anywhere.
Our towels are long lasting and made to the highest standards using 390gsm fabric and double stitched seams. This makes them one of the highest quality towels on the market. We are confident that your towels will outlive any regular towel and you will get many years of enjoyment from them.
Our towels are so easy to clean, a cold machine wash is all that’s required. They will dry on the clothesline in half the time of an average towel and we’ve added a hang tag to easily hang up your towel on a hook if you can’t get to a line.
Our towels are designed in Australia and manufactured offshore. We use a yarn called Repreve that was invented by Unifi a company based in North Carolina in the United States. Whenever you see the Repreve logo you can rest assured that your products contain recycled plastic bottles.
Our towels dry in half the time of a regular towel. Hanging them on the clothesline to dry is all that’s required. We do not recommend putting them in the dryer.
Our towels are a waffle weave microfiber. We use 80% recycled plastic and 20% polyamide to make them. The fibres of our fabric are so fine and loop free that sand cannot get caught in them and falls straight off.
Our sand free towels are super absorbent and hold three times their weight in water.
